A tripartite MoU (click here for the MoU) has been signed between Textiles Committee (TC), Government E-Market Place (GeM), and Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) with the following objectives:
- Promotion of upcycled products in public procurement
- Design and implement community-centered, inclusive, fair, and sustainable interventions
- Promoting women empowerment, and livelihoods generation, and preserving Indian art
- Aligning untapped entrepreneurial energy from established and emerging Upcyclers in India
As part of the MoU, the Textiles Committee, among others, is entrusted with the following activities:
- Recognition of Upcycled Textile Manufacturers through Certification
- Coordination with GeM for updating product features in catalogues
- Stakeholder Consultation to gather inputs on the specific products, challenges, and preferences regarding upcycled textile products
The Textiles Committee has developed a robust Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) for the registration of upcycled textile manufacturers. The certificate issued by the Textiles Committee enables Upcycled Textile Manufacturers to register on GeM to market their products among CPSEs.
The Textiles Committee is inviting applications (click here for application form) from interested parties to be registered as Upcycled Textile Manufacturers leading them to be onboarded onto GeM. Interested entities may submit applications to the nearest Regional Office of the Textile Committee along with all necessary documents and fee of Rs. 5,000 + GST (18%). The Textiles Committee will conduct on-site verification of the manufacturing site and issue certificates as Upcycled Textile manufacturers.
