  • Ministry of Textiles

    The Ministry of Textiles is responsible for policy formulation, planning, development, export promotion and trade regulation of the Textiles Industry. This includes all natural and man-made cellulosic fibres that go into the making of textiles, clothing, and handicrafts. The Ministry is headed by a Secretary, who is assisted in the discharge of duties by four Joint Secretaries, , the Development Commissioners for Handlooms and Handicrafts, the Economic Advisor, the Textiles Commissioner and the Jute Commissioner.  The Ministry has the vision to build state of the art production capacities and achieve a pre-eminent global standing in manufacture and export of all types of textiles including technical textiles, jute, silk, cotton and wool and develop a vibrant handlooms and handicrafts sector for sustainable economic development and promoting and preserving the age old cultural heritage in these sectors.

  • Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms)

    Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms) implements development and promotion policies for the Indian handloom textile industry.

  • Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts)

    Agency to implement various developmental schemes at the central level, to supplement State's activities in the handicrafts sector.

  • Office of the Textile Commissioner

    The Office of the Textile Commissioner plays a developmental role and has contributed towards modernization and holistic all round growth of diversified and broad based  textile industry .  This office formulates and implements various schemes of the Government in an industry friendly manner.

  • Office of the Jute Commissioner

    The Jute Commissioner looks after orderly development and promotion of the jute industry in India right from raw jute marketing up to the finishing stage of jute goods production including development of machineries and accessories used in jute manufacturing units.

  • Jute Manufacturers Development Council

    The Jute Manufactures Development Council (JMDC) is a Statutory Body constituted under the JMDC Act, 1983, under the Chairmanship of Secretary(Textiles) on May 1, 1984, with the objective to increase efficiency and productivity in the jute industry, and the financing of activities for such development and for matters connected therewith. JMDC has been delegated all functions related to Export Promotion in the jute sector and mandated to perform other such activities in the domestic market of jute sector as are performed by a Commodity Board.

  • Central Silk Board

    The Central Silk Board (CSB) was constituted under an Act of Parliament (LXI of 1948) with the objective of promoting the growth and development of sericulture in the country. The programmes for development of the sericulture industry are primarily formulated and implemented by the State Sericulture Departments. However, the CSB supplements the efforts of the states by providing necessary support for Research, Development, Extension and Training through its country-wide network of units. Besides, the CSB organizes production and supply of quality silkworm seed, mulberry cuttings etc. and also undertakes directly as well as jointly with the state sericulture departments, the implementation of various sericulture projects.  

  • Central Wool Development Board

    The Board has been constituted with a view to harmonize the various conflicting interests among different sector of the woollen industry to form an integrated policy of development. Its headquarters is at Jodhpur

  • Handloom Export Promotion Council (HEPC)

    The council carries out export promotion activities like organization of fairs/ exhibitions/ seminars/ buyer seller meets etc. It is the nodal agency for promotion of exports of the handloom sector. 

  • Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC)

    Council is to promote, advance, increase and develop exports of all types of readymade garments. Woollen knitwear and garments of leather, jute and hemp are excluded from its purview.  

  • Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL)

    The Council looks after the export promotion of cotton fabrics, cotton yarn and cotton made-ups. Its activities include market studies for individual products, circulation of trade enquiries, participation in exhibitions, fairs and seminars at home and abroad, in order to boost exports.  

  • The Synthetic and Rayon Textile Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC)

    It is the nodal agency for promotion of exports of Indian synthetic and rayon textiles (yarn, fabrics and made-ups).The council carries out export promotion activities like organization of fairs/ exhibitions/ seminars/ buyer seller meets etc.  

  • Indian Silk Export Promotion Council (ISEPC)

    The ISEPC is the nodal agency for promotion of exports of natural silk goods from India and acts as a registering authority for the information to its members. The council produces and disseminates information to its members about the market developments in the world, changes in the trade polices, etc.

  • Wool and Woollen Export Promotion Council (W&WEPC)

    The council's objective is promotion of exports of Wool and Woollen products. The council carries out export promotion activities like organization of fairs/ exhibitions/ seminars/ buyer seller meets etc.  

  • Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC)

    The council's objective is promotion of exports of carpets . The council gets grant-in-aid from Government for its export promotion activities like organization of fairs/ exhibitions/ seminars/ buyer seller meets etc.  

  • Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH)

    The council's objective is promotion of exports of handicrafts products. The council gets grant-in-aid from Government for its export promotion activities like organization of fairs/ exhibitions/ seminars/ buyer seller meets etc.  

  • Powerloom Development & Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL)

    Powerloom Development & Export Promotion Council is a nodal agency for development and promotion of the exports of Powerloom products.  

  • Wool Industry Export Promotion Council (WOOLTEXPRO)

    Wool Industry Export Promotion Council (WOOLTEXPRO) facilitates and promotes the export of Indian wool.

  • National Textile Corporation Ltd.(NTC)

    The National Textile Corporation Limited (NTC) is a Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Textiles which was incorporated in April 1968 for managing the affairs of sick textile undertakings, in the private sector, taken over by the Government.

  • Cotton Corporation Of India Ltd.(CCI)

    Cotton Corporation of India, Mumbai, is a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Textiles engaged in commercial trading of cotton. The CCI also undertakes support price operation (MSP) on behalf of the Government of India. 

  • Jute Corporation of India Ltd. (JCI)

    The Jute Corporation of India Ltd. (JCI) is the Official Agency of the Govt. of India for implementing the policy of providing the Minimum support Price to the jute growers and to serve as a stabilizing agency in the raw jute sector. 

  • Handlooms and Handicrafts Export Corporation of India Ltd (HHEC)

    The HHEC is a government company under the administrative control of Ministry of Textiles, New Delhi. The HHEC has been set up with the objectives of export promotion and trade development of handicrafts and handloom products. The corporation is also presently engaged in the development and introduction of jute products for home use in international markets. Major crafts products of Corporation are garments, jewellery, jute and leather products. 

  • Central Cottage Industries Corporation (CCIC)  

    The CCIC is a Public Sector Undertaking under the administrative control of Ministry of Textiles. The main objective of the corporation is to act as a leader, exporter, manufacturer and agent of Indian quality handicrafts and handlooms and to develop markets for these products in India and abroad.

  • National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC)

    The main objective of the corporation are to ensure easy availability of raw materials and inputs used in handloom sector like yarn, dyes and chemicals and other inputs and to encourage production and marketing of handlooms by opening of marketing outlets.

  • Ahmedabad Textile Industry’s Research Association (ATIRA)

    An Industrial Research Institute for Textiles established in 1949 to help the Indian Textile and Allied Industries, especially ATIRA'S Membership Organisations to become Internationally Competitive.

  • Bombay Textile Research Association (BTRA)

    The Bombay Textile Research Association (BTRA) was set up in the year 1954 as an autonomous Co-operative Research Association with a view to carry out research and other scientific work for textile and allied industries. 

  • South India Textile Research Association (SITRA)

    The South India Textile Research Association established in the year 1956, is governed by a Council of Administration consisting of member representatives of the Industry, Government and Scientists. SITRA is sponsored by the Industry and is partly supported by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

  • Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA)

    NITRA, one of the four textile research associations located in different parts of the country was established in the year 1974 with the objective to carry out scientific research in the field of textile as well as to promote and foster scientific research studies for the extension of knowledge related to or connected with textile.

  • Man-Made Textiles Research Association (MANTRA)

    To cater to the ever increasing quality control needs of growing man-made textiles industry around the city of Surat in South Gujarat, in late nineteen seventies an idea was mooted to set up a full-fledged independent Research Association for the region. MANTRA was to be set up on similar lines as other National Textile Research Associations.

  • Synthetic and Art Silk Mills Research Association (SASMIRA)

    The Synthetic & Art Silk Mills' Research Association (SASMIRA) established on 12th January 1950 under Registration No. 2505 of 1949-1950 granted under societies act XXI of 1860 and is a cooperative venture set up by the man-made textile industry of India after independence as a multi-functional institute to serve its scientific and technological needs.

  • Indian Jute Industries Research Association (IJIRA)

    Indian Jute Industries' Research Association [IJIRA] was established in 1937, the first co-operative R & D organisation to render services to the Indian Jute Industry and Government Agencies who were promoting Indian Jute in domestic market as well as exporting to the other countries.

  • Wool Research Association (WRA)

    Wool Research Association was established in 1963, the only national institute in the field of Wool Technology.
